About taxi in Scatsta-airport

The former RAF Scatsta on Shetland is now Scatsta Airport, an important transport link that allows for more people to visit these islands and for the locals to maintain greater links with the mainland. The main traffic using Scatsta consists of helicopters, mainly those transporting workers to and from the oil rigs in the northern regions, and there are no scheduled flights other than a regular transfer to Aberdeen. Scatsta is a vital airport and, thanks to the helicopter movements, ranks as the fifth busiest in Scotland in terms of aircraft movements. It is a fact that Scatsta is not a commercial airport, and as such the transport links are largely difficult to traverse. This means that taxi services to and from the airport are non existent and the only method of transport is by private vehicle. This remote airfield will continue to play a part as long as the oil fields are producing.
